Hotel
The Menger Hotel is a beautiful, Victorian-era hotel, built in 1859. It is across the street from The Alamo in downtown San Antonio. Half of the guest rooms are in the historic portion of the building, upgraded with modern ammenities. The other half are traditional, modern hotel rooms. The Shops at Rivercenter shopping mall is next door, which gives direct access to San Antonio’s famous Riverwalk. One of the Menger’s claims to fame is that Lt. Col. (not yet president) Theodore Roosevelt recruited there for his Rough Riders in 1898. The hotel has a display of Roosevelt memorabilia near the lobby. There is also a statue of him across from the hotel.

Air Travel
Fly into the San Antonio International Airport (“SAT”), which is served by 14 airlines. The hotel is 8 miles (13 km) south of the airport, about 20 min by car.
